Legislation and Policy Committee

Internet Reference Guide
Locating & Tracking Bills in the California Legislature

Purpose:

To research proposed legislation pertinent to child abuse and provide information to the Council. To make recommendations to the Legislative Committee of the Board of Supervisors and take other action as approved by both Council and Board of Supervisors.

Structure and Procedures:

a) At the direction of the Council, the Legislation Committee may institute action on specific legislation.

b) The Council may not advocate for legislation contrary to position taken by Board of Supervisors but may make recommendation to Board regarding issues on which they have not taken a stand. It will be necessary to work closely with the Legislative Committee of the Board of Supervisors to make sure that our efforts are in harmony.

c) Although individual members of the Committee may act in any way they choose on any issue, only issues directly related to child abuse will be addressed by the Council and any individual member may not represent, or give the appearance of representing, the Council on any issue not agreed upon by the Council as a whole.

d) The committee may arrange presentations on election issues and/or arrange candidate forums.
