Whereas, the Santa Clara County Board of Education wishes to enter into an agreement between the Santa Clara County Department of Social Services for the purpose of conveying pertinent welfare information concerning the student population in regard to securing entitlement to funds, specifically eligibility for free school meal or milk benefits: and

Whereas, the County Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent to act as an authorized representative of school districts with the Santa Clara County Department of Social Services for the purpose of receiving confidential welfare information maintained by the County; and

Whereas, the Superintendent, before releasing information, will obtain signed agreements from each school district verifying that the district will adhere to the rules of confidentiality and that the district will indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Santa Clam County Office of Education; and

Whereas, under the terms of the agreement the Santa Clara County Board of Education agrees to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Santa Clara County Department of Social Services;.and

Now, therefore be It hereby resolved that the Santa Clara County Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of the Santa Clara County Office of Education, Colleen B. Wilcox, to sign and execute agreements on behalf of the Governing Board with the Santa Clara County Department of Social Services and with each participating school district.
